LATX - Material Compendium is a multidisciplinary, cross-cultural investigation and research initiative focused on traditional techniques involving natural rubber. The project aims to foster connections between various craft communities and other individuals who utilize traditional methods, incorporating natural pigments, textiles, fibers, and other biomaterials.
These elements are essential for processes that not only alter the color or appearance of LATX but also enhance its stability, durability, and overall performance. The objective is to compile a comprehensive material compendium that explores, documents, and communicates traditional artisanal methods of latex production across Latin America, Asia, and Europe. Additionally, the overall goal is to translate this ancient knowledge into a contemporary, circular, sustainable and intersectional material.
