LATX Biomaterials merges handcrafted tradition with material experimentation, uniting natural latex with organic, mineral, and other inorganic pigments to create surfaces where innovation and heritage coexist.
Misantla Collection
A dialogue between earth and light, between the tactile and the ephemeral — transforming craft into contemporary expression.
Developed with the artisans of Mangas El Compita in Misantla, Veracruz, each piece merges natural latex with organic and mineral pigments, handcrafted within small communities that keep a living heritage alive.
These pilot materials can now be commissioned or ordered to support the ongoing development of LATX Biomaterials and its collaboration with Mangas El Compita.
Realized within the Pro Helvetia Design Framework, with the grateful support of Pro Helvetia Switzerland.

Each panel ranges between 2.20 × 2.00 m and 2.50 × 2.00 m, hand-coated with natural latex and tinted with ochres and other inorganic, highly lightfast pigments — hues that bring the material’s surface vividly to life.
