Eminönü Camileri
As Istanbul has a unbeliveable density of mosques, the most remarkable is their diversity in style and decoration. It feels like a travel trough Ottoman history and related through that also a history of craftsmanship. In this series dedicated to some architectural jewels of this neighbourhood, we are going to explore different places through the Iznik-Tiles, which adorn a lot of the mosques and mausoleums around Eminönü.
Hobyar Cami
Neo-Ottoman Style
During the end of the 19th centuary and in the beginning of 20th centuary, Iznik-Tiles or lets say a much lower quality copy of it, got popular in use for many buildings, which were constructed during this time period. Some examples of those Neo-Iznik-Tiles, with motives inspired by traditional designs, were also used during the partially re-construction of the Hobyar Cami. The Cami is located behind the building of the old Sirkeci main Post Office, Istanbul, which was build also in Neo-Ottoman Style.

Arabesque
An other detail at Hobyar Cami is the Arabesque bordure at one of the windows. It was great fund to play with the motives, digitize them and maybe preserve them for future use.
